Facts

In its further information submitted to the ECtHR Chamber in Kazali and Others v. Cyprus and 8 other applications (decision of 6 March 2012), the Republic of Cyprus reported that the Custodian of Turkish-Cypriot Properties had, by that point, decided 45 custodianship-lift applications lodged in 2010-11: custodianship was lifted in 16 cases and refused in 29. Of the 45 decided applications, only 3 involved claims for compensation, and all three were subsequently withdrawn. Of the 16 cases in which custodianship was lifted, 2 concerned owners permanently settled in areas controlled by the Republic.
